Free, professionally-developed software for children with autism

Troubleshooting

This page contains general troubleshooting tips that apply to all of the software. If your problem isn't listed here or on the how to pages, send an email to support@autismsoftware.co.uk, detailing your problem.

You receive an error message about the GAC during installation

You require an additional third-party component before installing the program, most likely the Microsoft PrintForm Component, especially if you are trying to install TraceTablet. You can get the PrintForm Component here. Note that the link is to an external site, which is not controlled by this site's owner. Once the component is installed, you can try to install the software again.

The software is sluggish, or runs slowly

Make sure that your computer meets the minimum software requirements for the specific software that you are using. This can be found on the program's information page, in the software section.

With Colour Shapes, the program closes after asking for the CD

Because you aren't installing from a CD, the program won't be able to find the CD in the drive. Before installing, you should download the picture pack. Follow the specific instructions for downloading this program.

An unhandled exception occurs

This is unusual, and it is very difficult for anyone except the programmer (me) to work out why it happens. Please copy the information in the error report into an email and send it to support@autismsoftware.co.uk. I can't fix errors unless I know about them, and just knowing that an unhandled exception happened isn't nearly specific enough to narrow down the problem.
